Synopsis: "Big Mac and Sugar Bell could break up."

What is with the show's recent trend of airing holiday episodes out of order? Joking aside, let's get into this. This episode has Big Mac planning a Hearts And Hooves Day surprise for Sugar Belle. He plans to give her a pie with an invitation to a romantic evening for two, but a mail mixup has it end up with Sweetie Belle, who's trying to look for her special Somepony. To make things worse, Big Mac accidentally hears Sugar Belle, and thinks she's breaking up with him, so Spike and Discord try to help him out. This episode approaches love on two levels, one level on how romantic love involved communicating well with others, and the other on how platonic love is just as good. The first level applies to Big Mac, what with him conveniently being in the wrong place and thinking that she's breaking up with him. His conflict works given that he's a man of few words, and the words he does express are generally not well communicated. It also helps that he's no idiot, and at least thinks about her happiness. The second level applies to Discord and Sweetie Belle. The former thinks the holiday is too mushy, while the latter ultimately realizes how strong the love for her friends is. Both cases work since the former does tend to be more cynical with how life is when not around Fluttershy, while the latter likes to be able to be independent. Everything converges in the end, where Discord plays Cupid and slows her down so they can make up, while Sweetie Belle appreciates what her friends. It gets across a nice moral on how true love, any kind, is about communication and being able to bond with others. It's great.
