Synopsis: "Gwen takes part in a battle of the bands."

So, after almost 5 months, we're finally back with Marvel Rising. Let's look at Battle Of The Bands and see how it does. This episode involves Gwen taking part in, well, Battle Of The Bands. One of the competitors is Screaming Mimi and the Thunderbolts (the former voiced by Tara Strong). Gwen has trouble balancing band practice with her heroics. Things go from bad to worse when a sonic boom of some kind strikes the city, causing collateral damage and making it hard for people to hear. Now they have to figure out what's going on. This special is obviously about Gwen, and learning about how she doesn't have to overextend herself . Doing so means you end up pleasing no one. What I like about her conflict is the camaraderie she has with both her teammates and her friends. One of Gwen's major strengths is her altruism. She has a strong desire to be there for others due to how she often wants to be seen as someone you can rely on. Both sides see this given how Rayshaun is stern, yet doesn't harp her on it, and Glory at least gives her a chance to prove it. However, she's also known for being in over her head given her impulsive tendencies. Everything ties together due to how she's still great at being able to think on her ties. Now let's talk about Screaming Mimi. She was the one behind the sonic boom attacks, all simply because she doesn't want to lose the competition. Yes, she's incredibly petty, but with how much she revels in it, you can't help but enjoy her. The ending is where things get together. Gwen manages to turn Mimi's sound around by absorbing it and sending it back to her, short circuiting her necklace, and thus her power. Now what about the competition? Unlike Gwen's band, the other Thunderbolts went on without her, making her feel somewhat sad. Gwen realizes she doesn't want to keep being seen as a bad friend, and exposes her identity to MJ and Glory. They're initially shocked, but they then accept, and both sides tell Gwen she just needs to be honest about what she needs to do. They then all rock out . That is awesome.
