Description
"Madame President," the terrorist Waylan says on the screen. "That poor excuse for a rescue attempt failed miserably. Now I have two prisoners, the Ensign and one of your war heroes, Captain Fontaine - "
"The Confederacy will not negotiate with terrorists," the President says. "You would be best advised to - "
"You should look out your window over the harbor toward Groton and the shipyards and - "
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! The explosion is clear over the speakers.
"Maybe I should have said the former shipyards," Waylan chuckles. "You are powerless to stop me. I will destroy a vital manufactuting installation every hour on the hour until you surrender the matrix. And one prisoner each hour until you comply."
"What do you want?" President Sofia Jensen asks wearily.
"The matrix, for starters," Waylan laughs. "And my rule. If you can't convince the Senate, they may find their secure homes blowing up from underneath them."
"I will discuss this with them," the President says.
"Good," Waylan says, showing an explosion on an abandoned spaceport. "I would hate for you to end up like Monica McEndicott."
"Monica McEndicott is alive and well, I assure you," I say into the comm system. "And she is mad as hell."
"How - " Waylan starts.
"Your supposedly untraceable transmission is, indeed, very traceable," I point out. "Do not negotiate with this piece of filth, Madame President. Me and The Folly will take care of this."
"More like you will fail again," Waylan laughs. "Maybe I should kill Fontaine now."
"You touch one hair on her head and I will personally capture you, imprison you and torture you from now to eternity, Confed law be damned."
"Is that supposed to scare me?"
"I've reset the galaxy twice," I tell her. "If you think I can't deal with a little shit like you, you're sorely mistaken.
"You have one hour to surrender your prisoners." I cut the connection on all ends.
She's going to pay for what she's done!
