"What the hell is this?" I ask, skeptically. "Goldfish bowl?"
"No," my beautiful wife sighs. "She's analyzed these types of scenarios with heavy electromagnetic and psionic interference. The sphere is the best answer - "
SMAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!
"Scratch one ice asteroid," I mutter, as I try and squeeze into the glass sphere. It's a tight fit. "Now I know how a goldfish feels."
"Smaller size increases survivability," Monica tells me. "You are shielded from psi interference and have conduits she created to the gun buddies - "
"Gun buddies?" I scoff.
"Remote targeting array," she corrects. "We call them buddies."
"Right," I say, trying to get comfortable. "What about this?" I ask, sitting in the cramped space, one leg outside of the sphere, attaching the portable laser cannon to the deck plate. Nothing wrong with my psi as I make quick work, fastening the eight bolts.
"Last resort self defense - " Monica starts as I give her a psipush to the inner airlock and shut the door. Forming a psionic* air bubble around me, making sure its permeable for laser light (it is), I open the outer airlock and start firing at balls of ice. They evaporate under the laser light.
"Let me hit them with a psiwave," I tell the redhead. "I could take them out in one go." Missed, dammit. Firing again, and another pair undergo rapid energetic sublimation. Which gets their attention and more ice asteroids penetrate our shields, heading to immolation on the hull. But those effects are cumulative and they release stored energy.
Not your average snowballs.
I start gathering energy for a massive blast.
"No!" Monica says, disrupting my energy accumulation.
"Geez, Monny! This will take forever - "
"Tara says that it's what the Triumvirate wants," my wife tells me. "We'll be playing into their - "
SMAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!
"Missed one," Monica reports drolly.
"Fine." I say, launching the gun buddies and closing up the fishbowl -
*Sphere* My wide corrects me.
*You know I hate to be corrected* I mindspeak, as I tickle her lust adroitly, leaving her in a mindstate where she is unfulfilled and wanting more.
*Heartless wretch* she mindpants.
"You better hope I survive this," I tell her, as I direct the gun buddies to an offensive formation.
Let's do this.
