I remember this one time I made yogurt from scratch. It took way too long for the result in the end. I think I'll just pay the extra few cents and buy it from the store.

That's exactly how it works. You get active cultures, boil powdered milk to a very exact temperature, mix it together and have it sit in a "Yogurt Maker"... which is essentially thing thing that keeps it at a warm temperature.
Then it sits for hours.
It's really not worth the trouble. I mean, compared to other things I could do with that time like sleep or eat Yoplait yogurt.
