I love lying on the grass and watching the clouds, with my chickens gently grazing around me... it's great... well until you accidentally fall asleep in the sun and wake up with one of the chickens trying to use your face as a perch, 
I think lying on the ground at night is more suited to an out of the way beach in the middle of summer. It's also the absolute best place to see all the evil twinkly stars in all their glory.
