Description Drawn with tablet in Mischief from videotaped reference of live model using timed intervals.  Timed intervals tell the story.  Even with a decent drawing program I find it extremely difficult to draw digitally under time constraints.  It makes me feel incompetent. (Of course, with traditional media I'm comfortable with as little as ten seconds; it's the long intervals - five minutes and more - that drive me batty, there.  Haha.)

My technique here was done small size on the tablet using finger strokes, instead of large using the whole arm as I'm accustomed to.  It feels awkward and it shows.  But the results here are a hell of a lot better than what I was doing previously.  So, with this page I establish a baseline from which to measure progress.  I would like to say, "it's not art, it's tech."  In this case, however, it's both.

My one fear is that drawing with a tablet may degrade my drawing abilities in general.  I'm curious to find out.  Haha.  And, man!  My back is all in spasm from hitting the lines from awkward angles.  (Ability to rotate the canvas is a necessary feature in any digital drawing program.  Right now I don't have it.)

About a third of the Cintiq fund goes to pay taxes this month, so I'll just have to make due with the tablet for now.  Maybe next year . . . ?

P.S. Just found out from that there is an alternative to the Cintiq.  Yiynova makes something similar www.yiynova.ca/Demo/?ClassID=1
