I have never understood why the Mind Trick is considered a Light Side power when it attacks a person's deepest spirit. Is that not the gravest temptation to which one can fall?? Yet the Jedi are terrified of Force Lightning and consider it inherently Dark. Which makes no sense to me when you consider that lightning can be aimed at inanimate objects, its intensity can likely be controlled...and quite frankly, I believe that physical scars, as bad as they are, are less than mental scars.
Even IRL, the most devastating cost to a person of a trauma is not the physical recovery, but the mental and emotional damage, such as PTSD and the other effects of abuse and cruelty.
I write a Light Sith character, and he makes LOTS of use of Force Lightning. In private, with only those he trusts, he even dances with Lightning, with no other purpose than creating beauty. But he believes that the freedom of the mind is absolutely sacrosanct.
Yet by Jedi reckoning, he is evil and Jedi who use Mind Tricks to manipulate and deceive are good???

No, why, it's alright that you rant about it, mayhaps more viewers might stop by and think it over, because these are some really important points you're mentioning, how no specific ninjutsu (how do we even call these powers correctly in terms of SW universe? lol at my anime terms

My TFA-inspired story, Another Set of Eyes, looks at the dangerous potential effects of those mental powers too. It is an utterly fascinating concept to me, but only when looked at on all sides.
I've always heard people call them "Force powers." And one thing that is fascinating about Star Wars is that unlike Star Trek where only one viewpoint is held to be right, no one is REALLY sure in universe of what the whole truth is about the Force. I am hoping that TLJ will bring about a reassessment of the Force...

I can only agree with you again, how in such a franchise it's of utter importance to be able to look from different viewpoints as otherwise it might get exceptionally dull and predictable (one of the reasons I like GRRM's Song of Ice and Fire so much - with such a plethora of views (or should we say, POVs) it get significantly more difficult (and exciting!) to tell wrongs from rights, which in terms of a fictional story is exactly what hooks the reader
Indeed, let us hope TLJ would play less on strictly light or dark decisions and more on the ambiguity between those
