Description

I've seen a lot of these and thought...
why the fuck not join the drama ; D

In my opinion fetish art should have a mature content sign. I'm
not gonna say ''oh no it doesn't belong on DA'' because some fetish
art is 100% original art or somewhat your own original art.
First of all, let's look at the definition of it.

''A fetish is an extremely strong devotion to something. There are sexual fetishes
and nonsexual fetishes: both are obsessive interests. The most common use of the
word fetish is probably the sexual meaning.''

Here it notes that there is Sexual and Non-sexual fetishes however the most
common use of the word is the sexual meaning. I'm not going to say ''all fetish
art is pornography!!!'' because I am well aware its not. However once again it
did mention about sexual themes in fetish art which is certainly not appropriate
for younger viewers / children.

Some people may say ''Oh its just a cat / dog / whatever with a big belly!
you're saying kids can't look at a big belly?'' I'm not saying that. There is some
fetishes which aren't 'too bad' for kids (Such as big belly shit ect) but there are
some more.. worse ones to say the least such as literally eating people or inflating
private parts of the body (such as boobs ect) which are certainly not approbate
for kids once again.

Some people just take their fetish as a thing they like while hell, others
jerk off to it - Even the fetishes which are only a big belly or shit -. Let's
be honest, kids are easily influenced. If they see some fetish are or a title
which says fetish they'll look it up and look for more or look at what others
say and perhaps copy them. Kids are also very immature (most of the time)
and wont deal with fetishes maturely. Face it, fetishes are not for kids. They are
for mature teenagers / adults not for 11 year olds who play mine craft.

If you put mature content signs on fetish artwork then children will be
less inclined to look at it and will most likely avoid it. You may say ''Oh
but why don't we just make DeviantArt an adult site?'' Thats a stupid
response. Deviantart is for all types of art (Apart from pornography
I believe) and is not purely just for your adult artwork / fetishes. There
is plenty of other websites for that. DA is meant to be a 13+ website
but of course some kids are gonna make accounts older than they are
(Hell I put my birth date as 1949 which is obviously fake even though
I am well old enough to be on this website) so consider the fact that
there is 9 year olds on this website who may come across your
fetish artwork. I'm pretty sure you wouldnt show a 9 year old fetish artwork
in real life so why on DA? And as Solarsands (I think it was them who
said this) making DeviantArt and adult website would wipe out
a ton of there members which is obviously not good for them.

So come on. Just put mature content signs on your fetish artwork,
We aren't asking you to delete it, its just so younger audiences
cannot see it as it is not appropriate for them. People can see
your art.

my points are lame

I like this rant but the centered text doesn't flow visually and makes it harder to read.

I get that you don't want kids to see fetish art, that makes sense and is logical, but here's the thing-- If a kid really wants to see the pic, they can either A. Make an account and lie about their age, or B. stay as a guest and put a fake age into the prompt to show the pic and they'll still get to see it. dA can't tell who is and who isn't lying about their age unless someone else points it out. Putting mature content filters on fetish art does NOT prevent kids who don't have accounts from seeing it.
You know why?
Because if you're a guest, you can click the button to show the pic, and it asks you for your age and has one more button.
All the kid would have to do is put in a fake age there, click OK, and then they could see it.
The BEST way to restrict fetish art from minors is to put it on a side account and make it members only, AS WELL AS mature content, so that anyone who wants to see it will ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO MAKE AN ACCOUNT. Because if someone lies about their age when making an account, they can get banned/suspended for being underage.

Granted, they could put a fake age in. But even so if there was one, kids who don't want to see it won't see it instead of them just seeing it.

Perfectly said.

Some people are in the stage of their mental development where they still have to find out their basic sexuality, sexual preferences and kinks.
Emphasis is on "basic".
Certain fetishes like furry and vore are complex, abstract and all these adjectives.
They are under the risk of disturbing the development.
Some people mature faster, earlier and younger than others but a generalisation has to be at some point.
I actually think that not every sexual artwork needs a mature content tag, i think it depends on the intensity and what fetishes are included.

Browsing DeviantArt gave me the thought that the current mature content filter is bad in generall.
That thing needs to be reworked.
For sexual art i would suggest a "staged" filter.
Here is what could be filtered: prude (100%), sexy (80%), seducing (60%), softcore (40%), mediocore (20%), hardcore (0%).
Just my idea, an idea i really like.

For things that require our current mature content tag for violence, gore etc. i could see something similar.

Tbh these points are pretty elementary, but this debate is elementary, and fairly straightforward.
