hey since this is my all time most popular deviation i'll self promote a bit and let ya know i've improved quite a bit since 2016 and it'd be cool if you also checked out my newer stuff :0c

air swimmers are small and odd uhhh organisms. they're omnivores, and really good at it: everything is potential food. they don't hunt though, relying mostly on fruits and vegetables, with insects and meat being a lucky bonus meal. but don't quote me on their diet, i'm not sure what these pincers can or cannot eat and only added them bc they look good.
through some conveniently unexplained way, these small creatures can levitate, using their tails to swim in the air much like manatees. a good way to flee from predators and reach a particularly good looking leaf.
swimmers tend to being brown and grey in the wild, and somewhat easily scared. domestic ones, however, are bred for interesting, bright and unusual colors and patterns (like fish!), and being used to humans, more friendly.
