History:
Ndege always wanted to travel the world and explore all the places no one else would dare to go. But as she grew up she got tied down with training and responsibility, so instead of becoming the intrepid adventurer she dreamed of she became a scout for her pride. But still she always listened to the birds stories, and wandered to the very edges of Msitu's borders hoping for a glimpse of something new and exciting. And then one day, she found him. Imeonekana appeared on the Msitu borders injured and in need of aid. His raven companion, Kuangalia, had been the one to find Ndege and lead her to where the melanistic leopard had hidden himself. He was strange and spoke different than anyone she had ever met and she imeadiatly got to work healing the injured 'poet'.
He had asked Ndege to keep his presence a secret, and while she didn't know why, she agreed. She was an alright healer and Imeonekana was always eager to tell the most magnificent stories from the wide world he had traveled. She learned he was from Varna, heard tales of distant lands and creatures she thought only myth, and as the weeks went by she and the stranger grew close. Eventually, she asked him to stay with her. He countered with an offer to come with him. But, Ndege was expecting cubs now, she was sure of it, and knew they would have a better chance growing up in the pride than they would roveing with her love. And so Imeonekana vowed to visit often to help raise them, and told Ndege his true story. An assassin from Varna, his life was never safe but he would try to be a bit more careful now that he had a family to live for. Once the cubs were grown enough, she could join him, or go to Varna with him. She agreed, and for the next stretch of their lives all was well.
When Kunguru was born, Ndege couldn't believe how similar they were to Imeonekana. From the darkened pelt to the too sharp claws and teeth. They were perfect. Inheriting her own wanderlust as well as Imeonekana's was a recipe for disaster and eventually led to Imeonekana's death at the claws of one of his marks. It wasn't really Kunguru's fault, fate had been in a bad mood that day, but as her cub grew ever darker Ndege worried. She had lost the cheerful and curious cub that, like her, wanted only a life of adventure and it didn't surprise her when Kunguru came to say goodbye. Surprised her less when they told her they were going to become a bounty hunter, maybe track down the lion that killed their father. She would miss them, but it was clear that if she had tried to keep Kunguru in Msitu, they would become something all together malicious. So she let them go, but Kunguru gave the same vow their father once had. To visit as often as they could and tell her stories of the world.
It had been a year since Kunguru had last visited on a job when the first of the tigers started to cause problems. Ndege sent Kuangalia to try and find Kunguru for help, but if they had gotten the message they either didn't come or came too late. Ndege managed to flee the fires, she had always been incredibly stealthy thanks to her pattern and scout training and fled her homeland. Alone to wander now, she is looking for Kunguru if they are still alive. If she can't find them, then she plans to go to Varna. Maybe meet her beloved Imeonekana's family and start over again?
