ok, so I know this can get a bit confusing, but there are two categories of predators in the PtH comic: the mortals, that live normal lives (Niko, Ashtan, etc...) and the Gods, who can live forever unless they are killed by someone or something (Ilkaël, Sam, etc...). The Gods themselves have four different catergories, or hierarchies: Royals, Brothers, Advisors and Guards.
Now to the caracteristics: all Gods can differ from their breed a little bit, but not too much either (a border collie would not be able to look like a husky).
Guards have no whites in their eyes, and have a mark on their front left leg. The other three don't have much to them except that they are bigger than normal.

Cayla here is an Advisor, to help the Royals with the important choices, and they are partly the Guards' commanders.
