I'm not sure about Mace,but Whip is less angsty than the other characters so it's hard to imagine he'd run out on Mace because of emotions and he's not terrified of even Ravat or Wisp and Smiley to the point where he'd flee so perhaps fortunately that's an unlikely possibility. On the other hand all of Mace's other newfound friends and "rival" are much more apt to go particularly if there's a catalyst in the form of a death;Remember that Dave said that not all of them will survive or be wholly intact at the end of it all.
