Her attention focused on Sunstorm, Shadowfox never noticed the hatch in the floor sliding silently open behind her. She was caught unawares by the hydraulic steel tentacles which whipped out and wrapped themselves about her body, dragging her back towards the trapdoor.

She was shocked, not so much by the Professor's betrayal as by his belief that she, Shadowfox, could be restrained in such a primitive manner when the merest exercise of her telekinetic abilities would disrupt the devices' delicate circuitry and disable them. She narrowed her eyes, put forth a portion of her will, and felt the first quiver of uncertainty when the only result was the cold metal tentacle tightening about her midriff.

The Professor's voice never stopped for a second.

"Naturally, just like Sunstorm, you were scanned and your abilities analysed the moment you entered the building. A dampening field is now in place to stifle your psychic powers, and those tentacles are calibrated precisely to your formidable strength and agility."

"Escape is quite impossible, I assure you. But do please continue to struggle, it will make this a more convincing demonstration."
