SomaKun — Amaterasu, Sakuya and Sapling

Description Well here it is, my last sculpture entry for the Okami contest. I didn’t sleep at all haha. I was on auto-pilot all night working into the wee morning . Well let’s start with measurements:

Amaterasu: 5 inches long
Sakuya: 6 ½ inches tall
Bloomed Sapling: 18 inches tall, 18.5 inches wide, 12 inches deep

Amaterasu was a generic wolf I found in my box-o-toys that I modified a bit with Super Sculpey. Saved me some time from sculpting ^_^. The reflector is made with Super Sculpey and the fire was made with hot glue.

Sakuya was scratch built with Super Sculpey with aluminum foil armature The leaves in her hair and the cloud sash are made from foam sheet.

The sapling was made with celluclay (instant paper mache) also with aluminum foil armature. The blossoms are made from foam sheets.

Everything was hand painted. I tried to get the sumi-e style to translate to the sculptures as best as I could. I started this project almost right after I finished my Amaterasu Warrior figure [link] and it took me about 2 days to finish it. I had a series of these sculpture projects in mind awhile back and this contest kind of pushed me to at least do one. I don’t think I have it in me to rush the other projects I had in mind before the deadline. I’ll make those later when I’m ready to tackle them but for now, I hope you enjoy this one. This is completely dumbfounding, I don't know how to describe this amazing piece of art It's incredible! I really like how you made Ammy and Sakuya out of sculpey and the tree leaves out of foam, it really stands out. A diorama type thing like this is sometihing I would like to do someday

This looks absolutely wonderful. There's a lot of really amazing fanart for okami in the world, but this is the most impressive and inspiring. I really wish I could create sculptures like this.

The thing that I like most in your entry is your use of different materials, especially hot glue for the fire, which looks perfect!
About the moulding, Sakuya is really well done, but you could have refined Amaterasu more.

Overall, i really like the colours of your work, and the fact that you put the characters in a background. This is a quite creative entry.
