...Raikou.Finally finished this. Red eyes are so hard to shade. It's my least favorite color of eyes to shade. I finished this one on my laptop in one layer so that's why this is so bad. I'm already feeling horrible for waiting so long to finish this so ~Mistress-of-Air ...sorry, and I hope you like this. I did work really hard on it.
And yes...my version of Raikou is a Saber-Toothed Tiger...deal with it. He doesn't look like a dog to me.

Yeah... the only dog in the "legendary dog trio", in my opinion, is suicune who looks like a wolf. But Enti and Raikou? That's a lion and a tiger :/
But anyway, I love how you portrayed him! I especially like how you did the eyes!

I'm actually really happy to see that other people see Raikou as a Saber-Toothed Tiger as well. I just got yelled at by some idiot who believes Raikou is a dog and kinda gave a semi-insult to this pic on another website. Honestly...it doesn't look like a dog at all! X3

I think that the thing that confused people was that they referenced to them as "Dogs" in some Pokemon tv show episode. Also, Suicune doesn't completely look like a cat right off the bat either, you have to do some thinking, it looks a little like a maned wolf too.
However i think that Raikou and Entei should NEVER be mistaken for...dogs. That's just being stupid. I can understand Suicune mix-ups but not the other two XDD
That sucks tho! I would tell him that if he didn't like how you drew it, then go draw Raikou himself, as a dog, rather than complain to you.

Yeah.
Suicune never looked feline to me. I always knew it was somewhat canine. I can sort of see Entei being canine. It does have a mastiff/bullmastiff look to it's muzzle (as it has that flat, underbite kinda look), but it's body is definitely feline and particularly the mane which is why I see it as a lion. But it can be a Mastiff/Lion mix.

Yea, personally though i just see Entei as a lion, considering the symbolism too, since Leo the Lion is a Fire sign out of Western astrology.
And somewhere in Japanese myth (i only know this from Okami) a tiger is related to Thunder/Lightning too
Suicune is odd though, you're right, but i'd rather see it as a cat anyways. haha!

I think Suicune would be very odd as a cat...unless it was a tiger or fishing cat. We all know cats are much for water.
Yeah, the prefix Rai- means "thunder" (also makes sense why Raichu's name is the way it is).
I personally see Entei as a lion as well, but I can also understand why people would argue for it to be canine.

Yeah now that i think about it, that IS kind of weird. Haha! Maybe it could be a Jaguar, actually! I just found out they are the only other big cat that enjoys swimming too

Yeah, but anatomy wise, it's body doesn't match up. It's has more canine anatomy and canine head type. Especially the torso and head resemble canine anatomy.

I'm so happy I'm not the only one that thinks that Raikou is not a dog. I don't really thing that they can be categorized as cats or dogs. Suicune looks like a dog to me, but Raikou looks like a Saber-Tooth Tiger and Entei looks like a lion. But I guess I can see how he's a dog. He's got a bulldog like face, but that's it.
