Description Blinded by the sudden Dark
The only light in the room,
The embers an inch from my fingertips.
Smoke wafting up through the
Already misty air.

I light a wick
And strum along to the music
Playing in my own head
The notes sounding foreign to me
Like rain from a cloudless sky.

Flickers casting wandering shadows
In the concaves,
Flesh that has never seen the sun.
In a flash I see
Remains of the youth I never quite grasped.

Always rebelling against nature
Things which should not be, but are.
Others' perceptions vastly different from my own--
Perhaps I'm more sensitive than most,
Knowing just how others feel.

I know how the leaves feel
When they tumble to the ground.
But now, out the dirty window
The black tree is a spot on my eyes,
Which glow gold in the small pillar of light.

My nostrils embrace the powdery fragrance
Bare skin trembling though the air is warm
Why the World sleeps at night I'll never understand.
Calm, peaceful-- brilliant sparks on black satin...
But I'm the loneliest I can be.

Flakes drop when
Their furnace neglects them
Landing softly on my stomach as I inhale,
Then blow out velvety circles
And watch them disappear.

Scattered memories lie around me
I'm reminded they should be plucked up,
Placed in neat little boxes
Until they're ready
For another day.

A shadowed portrait of Four
Reminds me that One
Shall never return
Though once we all thought he would live forever
In the height of his Glory and Triumph.

Looking up, I see innocence, then fury, hatred...
Then tranquillity:
A milky marble centred in a spiral galaxy
Under the mountains.
And all the things I'm meant to be.

My mind shifts, following the spiral
To Worlds unknown, places I've never been
But I can feel their power, their presence
Engraved in me
As if I've lived there in a hundred lives before.

I see dashing images of the glossy photographs
Of the man I long to be
And whose soul I am destined to merge with
And though he is grown, much older than I
He is still but a boy.

The desperation, the aching of my heart
As I gaze upon the man-child
Is only slightly softened
When I realise, yes.
He will remember me as he did before.

Still, he is the type to stray
Never staying in one place
Because the pain he feels
Is exactly like mine.
Injured heart fearing too much to hold on.

Sadness hidden by glints of a smile
Playing on the brightest Sapphires you've ever seen.
I can see it clearly, though,
When words have been spoken, jokes have been told, songs have been sung--
When he has fooled the World.

Even when vampire's teeth emerge
From their crimson hiding place,
Curved upward
Under flashbulbs and through silent shouts
Feet padding on velvet carpet.

I picture the night we spent together
Both stealing secretive glances across a busy room.
Disparate conversations, familiar songs with lyrics forgotten.
Waiting for hours, he seemed intrigued
We spoke briefly about things no-one else would understand.

The clever boy, seated calmly
Hands tucked under a plastic tablecloth
Sipping water from emerald bottles.
After hours, disappearing from sight
Back to wherever he came from.

I see him, saline drops
On milky, freckle- dusted skin
Burning on a cool night
Wishing for someone to come in
Yet desperately fearing that they might.

I only know because I am him
Born years later, in opposite flesh,
And because of the blood
Splattered across the snow
Which encases the glowing Sapphires in the mornings.

Decades apart, miles apart,
Yet our minds are one
We mirror each other
But our thoughts, our actions the same
While the World is sleeping.

crack it into 2 and then run through every line and delete any line you think you don't need. take every verb and make it more drastic with more motion, and damn! it would be even better.
