Thank you so much for your hard work, and for offering it like this.Β
I, of course, have a technical question, being a big dummy. I've extracted the rar file and opened the psd in Photoshop. I assume I am meant to duplicate the text layers in my project, then copy the layer styles from style297 and apply them to the layers in my project? It's worked, except that the result is a lot darker, missing the shiny aspect of the gold. I have tried stacking the layers differently and merging the layers, respectively, but with no luck. Somebody tell me what I am missing, please?Β

What is one supposed to do with this? -- download the file? I wouldn't dream of doing that, because it's an RAR file, a proprietary format, and somebody wants money for the software to create such files. Show some respect for your public.

Space0ctopus In reply to golem1 [2012-11-04 15:16:26 +0000 UTC]
uh....that's not true at all. Show some respect to knowledge. First of all, there are MANY OPEN SOURCE programs that unzip ALL file types, it's called the internet, learn how to use it. They are free and completely free. They are created to share with people for the simple purpose of sharing it. RAR is simply a file type that makes it more compressed than a .zip or many other files. You really don't know what you're talking about at all... not to mention, the person who has created every single one of these styles, they offer them completely free. It sounds like you're just trying to use retarded software. If you knew anything at all, also, you'd know that DA is very strict on what you can upload for others to download, .rar being one of the few filetypes that you can. .zip, if anything would be more associated with an actual company trying to make money; Winzip.
Winrar is technically free. .Rar files are like...the alternative to zip. You can keep using it and all it will do is tell you it isn't free, but it lets you use it anyways. Regardless, you should use something open source and completely free, not to mention awesome, like 7zip or Peazip. Sure there are many people who lock their rar files with passwords and charge money, but that has nothing to do with the software, it has to do with their bullshit.
That's irrelevant though, considering Sonarpos offers all of his AMAZING resources for free. No hoops to jump through either. In fact, I've found that not only is his work amazing, but he's one of the rarest types of people offering resources, he doesn't just give a couple free and charge for the rest... he pretty much shares it all with us, because he's a nice person.
Show some respect for the person kind enough to do something nice like that for people like you who act ungrateful. It's like you think you're entitled to it or something... when you're not.

I know how to use the Internet, stupid.
RAR is a proprietary format. There are Open Source applications that can unpack RAR files, but not create them.

From what I've seen, your mouth is locked into perpetual complaint. Β I've met people like you before. Β If you were given a gazillion dollars you would complain about taxes.Β *laughs*Β Β I expect your computer didn't love you enough when you were a child. Β
Β
Sonarpos is one of the mostΒ generous people here and his styles are the best of treats in a candy shop. Β You owe him an apology for your incomprehensible complaint even if it is years late.

LOL when I was a child, computers didn't exist.Β I understand my computer, and my computer understands me, and that is all I require.Β Β
My complaint was not against sonarpos.Β I agree he/she does wonderful work.Β My complaint was a computerish one, so I am not surprised that you find it incomprehensible.

Mmmm.incomprehensible? Β Just retired as a lead server admin at a top 20 university. Β Since I like variety I slid sideways about every 5 years in a variety of IT areas, Including ops, network applications, management, customer support supervision & level 2 support, coding, and server admin. Β I actually know quite a bit of "computerish.' Β I am also a plain English devotee, so I can usually translate any computer jargon to English. Β Perhaps you and your computer spoke a binary equivalent of Basque which isn't being translated as you might wish. Β However, your English is perfectly clear and you gave me a good chuckle. Β I'll debate or chat with you anytime!

I feel confused about what I should do.
Should I download the file to learn how to do this?
Or is this just an example of what can we do?

It's a free style by this DArtist. You download it and you can apply it to text and whatnot in Photoshop.

I know it's a bit late of a response, but in case you never figured it out, I don't completely know about how to do it, but since this has 2 layers in the PSD, I think there is a way you're supposed to apply both to make it look like the picture does. If I remember correctly, it has to do with Layer-styling, like stacking a style onto an already styled layer?

arphot In reply to Artheku [2012-05-08 21:18:55 +0000 UTC]
The RAR file is like a zip file. Download it and open it using the recent version of Winzip or another file extraction program. It is a style for Photoshop that will create the above prettiness.
Nice one sonarpos!
