Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and who they ship. If you ship Terra and BB, that's GREAT. But please refrain from being antagonistic in your comments.

Wasn't trying to be antagonistic and most of what I wrote is fact not opinion.Β Yes, I ship BB and Terra and it gets pretty annoying seeing her misrepresented so much and Raven being put on a pedestal like she's a wonderful heroine when she wasn't.Β
Terra gets screwed by DC and a lot of fans all the time and never given a chance.Β Raven, on the other hand, did far more evil and betrayed the Titans worse than Terra did, but it's conveniently ignored time and time again.Β

Raven only did far more evil under mind and soul control. It was under free will (escape for Wally West fiasco). So it's excusable. Β Terra consciously made a decision with no regrets, remorse, or pity. Β

Not really.Β It was revealed many years later that Deathstroke had drugged Terra so that she would join him.Β And the drugs were what caused her to turn psychotic and all that.

That whole thing is just something Geoff Johns added in so the current comics could fit with the animated series. Β Besides, there was no proof of that and the writers never really followed up on it. Β Terra was already deceitful and killing people before She met Deathstroke (King Tawaba).Β
I will say this though, Terra, despite being psychotic, has an overblown status as a Villian in The Judas Contract arc. Β They try to hammer in that she's pure evil, and the worst thing ever. Β She was evil and when she died, I cried no tears for her, Β but she isn't the supreme evil of the Teen Titans. Β Psimon and Trigon surpass her by a long shot. Β As does the rest of the "Complete Monsters": Β The Joker, Ragdoll, Parallax, Neron, Necron, Brother Night, The Family Man, The First of the Fallen, Doctor Destiny, Junior, Vandal Savage, Darkseid, Doctor Poison, Mister Mind, Doctor Psyhco, etc.Β

There was no proof that she killed King Tawaba either.Β Matter of fact, Terra has never been confirmed to kill anyone except Slade in the original cartoon series.Β Despite how evil and psychotic she was supposed to be, she didn't kill anyone while she was in the Teen Titans comic.Β Unlike Raven who killed lots of people, including Starfire's whole home planet of Tamaran.

Yeah, they show some of the murder on panel.
And again Raven was under control of her father. While Terra actually did things with no conscience in the comic

Well, after what Deathstroke told GeoForce, you could say Terra was being controlled by him.Β And Raven is half-demon, which is her evil half.Β So she has evil in her.
π: 0 β©: 1
masterofhorr In reply to Rockymin [2015-11-16 13:14:51 +0000 UTC]
Well no one is denying that she doesn't have evil in her, but
Deathstroke was lying due to OOC ness and bad writing introduced. Plus Blsckest Knight and Terra's origin comic denies that

Well, see that's always been the problem for Terra.Β DC can never make up their minds and just end up screwing her over.Β So we really have no official backstory for her.Β She got off to a great new start in the new 52 reboot, but DC once again just screwed her over.Β But with Geoff Johns helping running things, it's no surprise she still gets treated that way and Raven just gets put higher on that pedestal.

masterofhorr In reply to Rockymin [2015-11-20 06:24:07 +0000 UTC]
Even so, as per the original Judas Contract, Β Terra has done everything in-universe wise, out of her own free will. Β While Raven was controlled by an outside force.

Yeah sure, if you want to ignore everything that came after JC.Β You're starting to sound as bad as DC, trying to justify and then ignore what Raven has done.Β In the comics, those events were forgotten quickly so that everyone could welcome back Saint Raven to the team.Β It's pretty sickening the way she gets worshipped by fans and DC writers, while Terra just gets constantly screwed over and crapped on.
π: 0 β©: 1
masterofhorr In reply to Rockymin [2015-11-22 06:04:05 +0000 UTC]
Well, no I don't want to ignore what Raven had done. Β It's kinda disgusting for me that they have Raven be an on again and off again villainess, especially when it isn't necessary. Β
I guess you you could see it as sickening, Β but remember Terra did everything by her own accord, with no regrets, and with gleeful joy. Β Someone like that, just like in real life, deserves to be shit on. (Now we need to pass that on to the other villains). Β She was written from the beginning to be crapped on, she's barely even a character herself, just a plot device. Β I understand what you mean by constantly getting shit on if you are referring to Terra 2 and Atlee, that sucks balls. Β I have nothing against them. Β Plus Raven gets shit on herself plenty of times, she has been all her life, since the day she was born.

I like the idea of this pic. You acknowledge a connect--even a longing--but also portray that it will probably never happen.
I have a story on fanfiction(dot)net and this would be a very fitting cover image (which the site now supports). Would you mind if I used your image (or rather, a thumbnail of it) with my story?

Terra didn't really kill anyone; she just thought she did 'cause she beat them and then locked them in an underground cave... they were okay though and escaped...

I agree, but honestly I can't even remember most of the series after she showed up. I just kept missing the show and only caught enough to figure out she went bad then good again.

c0lB0h In reply to Songficcer [2010-04-13 07:04:38 +0000 UTC]
In a roundabout way, she didn't go good again. She trapped herself in a stone statue while trying to keep an earthquake (which she helped generate) from destroying the city. She somehow went back to flesh-and-blood and decided to suppressed her old memories entirely and pose as an ordinary schoolgirl.
What really bothers me? It was the series' last freakin' episode, in a final season with several out-of-place episodes, making me convinced they had something else in store for Terra.
Goddamn it all... I wish I knew what might've happened. She was a good character, and deserved to be more than a loose end to tie up (which already seemed tied up to me).

There are comics... but from what I heard, Terra is, shall we say, less of a heroine in them... at least in the original and in the graphic novel.

Maybe that's just her fate then? I'm not sure of the character's background, but maybe it's all she knows. She could have just been destined to 'fall from grace' so to speak.

c0lB0h In reply to Songficcer [2010-05-15 20:52:24 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, maybe. It seems her only purpose, in any incarnation of Teen Titans, was to teach Beast Boy a hard life lesson.
Even if she was a terrible character in the other series, it doesn't change the fact that her only real problem in the cartoon-- in my opinion-- was that she didn't know what to do with her life, which is why she ultimately made the decision to put the past behind her. I liked the idea of BB and Terra as a couple in the cartoon, though now, I like BB/Rae more because they have much, much more potential chemistry.
It just would've been nice if she and Beast Boy shared a more honest good-bye, something that didn't leave the fans hanging.

Songficcer In reply to c0lB0h [2010-05-15 20:56:52 +0000 UTC]
Well, BB was a bit of a 'go with the flow' kinna guy. Maybe her character was needed to make him grow up a bit? There will always be that 'what if' person in everyone's life. Terra was BB's.
π: 0 β©: 1
c0lB0h In reply to Songficcer [2010-05-15 21:11:47 +0000 UTC]
Exactly. My point exactly.
The trouble is, a lot of viewers-- most of them BB/Rae fans, in fact-- see her as an absolute Demon, a monster, when in fact, all she was was a Lost Soul. (stealth joke, there.)
So the whole moral is lost to the less perceptive viewers. She was necessary to help BB grow up, but people just see her as a traitor and a heart-breaker, which makes her all the more tragic. Like I said, it would've been nice if the finale spelled that out more clearly.
