Description This is a bird catcher specialising in "Sighing Owls" (Seufzereulen). These are an owl species special and typical for the Eisenwald, a mountain range in the duchy of Nordmarken, a part of Aventurien, the fantasy world of the German role-playing game DSA (Das Schwarze Auge).

I was asked to draw a sighing owl catcher as an illustration for a story in the DSA magazine Aventurischer Bote by the author of the article. The magazine arrived here yesterday and I saw that some stupid layouter has distorted the image quite awfully. I mean, look at that drawing! It's not so hard to see the nice round full moon. If that one looks like an egg in the sky there should have been some doubt about having the image dimensions right, shouldn't it? *sighs*

Well, here it is in its right dimensions with a nice moon and non-squished owls. I hope you like my little Papageno!

I love it, it's exactly what others mentioned... My favourite part of the picture is the cute little owl sitting on the pole!

I doubt that there's another image around. Sighing owls are rare and very shy.

You mean the novel Krabat by Otfried Preußler? Haven't heard of it before but it sounds like a great story. I find it especially interesting that it's set in the early 18th century, I'm quite interested in the early years of the Great Northern War. Maybe I'll read it!
