Outwardly Calm

Relaxed and at ease, Simone is always in control of her outer self, never screaming or throwing tantrums unless she is very, very scared of something. She can certainly project her voice when she must, but never out of anger (only out of fear; particularly for bugs. In fact, she is one of those people that get quieter when they are mad). Perpetually serenely smiling, even when she is mad, she seems to appear to always act sensibly. In fact, this is not true; when she is mad, she will only pretend to listen while cursing you to the ends of hell and back in her mind.

Firm

Simone is very firm with her beliefs. Her philosophy is an eye for an eye; she will return what you give her, whether it’s chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream or acromantula venom. And she will do this all with a serene smile on her face. She has endless patience for those who mean no harm and zero tolerance for those who do. To her, the intent is more important than the result (although she acknowledges that some measure of result is important, otherwise the intent is near-useless).

Brave

In dire situations, she is good at remaining calm and relying on instincts, if not acting completely rationally. So yes, while she is brave enough to stare down a dragon if she must, but it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t feel fear; she is just capable of temporarily suppressing it. This in turn causes her to be a bit more reckless than would be safe; where most students might stop, she would go a step further, risking danger but also potentially gaining more.

Simone is a big sister type of girl, due to being the eldest in a family of four children. She has a soft spot for children younger than her (never mind that she’s still a child herself) and is usually willing to lend them a hand. Contrary to her willingness to help others, she is very prideful and refuses help for herself. She is extremely independent and has a hard time being told what to do from those the same age as her or younger. She dislikes being proven wrong and takes things too personally.

Although this may not seem evident at first, Simone is vain. Not in the way that she spends hours on her looks; this girl is often mistaken for a boy! No, Simone is vain in the way that she holds her powers, especially magical powers, in high esteem, and while she may not show it (because it doesn’t happen very often), she becomes extremely upset and obsessive and absolutely has to get it right by herself without anyone’s help.

Simone can be rather over-the-top in her views. First impressions count very highly to her and she holds great disdain for slackers and anyone she counts as “unworthy” (her guidelines vary; aka YMMV). She is even critical towards herself, and while she does not work constantly and strive to be the very best there ever was, she has high standards for herself and laments inwardly if she fails to meet them.

Sort of a follow-up to the previous point; Simone does not hold many people in high esteem. She has many acquaintances that she is friendly with but few (if any) close friends. She will not beat around the bush or sugarcoat things. Quite honestly, she is not a very nice person if you try to get up close and personal. She is even this way to her few close friends; however, those that can bear with this side of her often find that she is capable of finding hidden positive sides of them that they did not realize they possessed.

Simone is the oldest of two boys and a little baby girl. She grew up taking care of them whenever their frequently absent parents, both medical witches and wizards, were called for yet another late-night emergency. While she respected their work, she was never interested in following their footsteps. While both her parents were wizards, Simone’s generation was only the fourth generation to have magic. They lived on the edge of magical Britain, in a place where the muggle world was easily accessible and the magical world just a floo away.

Growing up, Simone had mostly magical family friends, but did have the occasional rare muggle visitors when they would have to charm everything to appear non-magical. Simone developed a rather inferior view of muggles, finding them stupid to be unable to see and detect magic, and even sometimes rude (the wizarding world was, after all, still rather old-fashioned and put a higher emphasis on traditions and customs).

When it was time for her to enter Hogwarts, she took the family owl, a screech owl named Concordia who hated her, and had the honour of being known as the girl whose owl dumped her mail into her food (or on her head if it was a big parcel) every morning (and the one who couldn’t ride a broom for her life no matter how much she practiced).

Her first summer back, she and her siblings discovered a sphynx kitten at the local muggle animal shelter and were immediately smitten with its cuddliness and cute meow. Faced with four pleading faces, including the face of their usually calm and responsible eldest child, their parents relented and they brought back Leroy just before someone else tried to adopt him. The younger children, being their age, soon lost interest after a few weeks, but Leroy stuck to Simone and soon became her official cat. When September rolled around, Simone happily swapped Concordia for Leroy, content with using the school’s owls. Occasionally, just to be funny, one of her siblings would send mail via Concordia. Leroy became rather adept at intercepting those mails, although he ran away if it was a parcel take one for the team Simone.

In her second year, Simone was very relieved at the lack of flying lessons and enjoyed that school year much more. She took a shot at dueling and found it very fun. She began to learn more offensive based spells. Third year, she rather enjoyed Care of Magical Creatures and found Divination very, very amusing (and stupid). That summer, after attending an open hosue of sorts, Simone developed a taste for dueling, and hopes to join/start a dueling club/team this year.

She sucks at flying. She will not get on a broom for the life of her.

She plays the flute; is average at it. Nothing special; she can blow air and make it sound okay.

Probably one thing that sets her apart from her fellow students is her broader understanding of death. Both her parents working in hospitals, occasionally she had to tag along when she was younger and her parents weren’t able to find a last-minute babysitter. When she asked about the sick and dying people that she saw in some rooms, her parents sat her down and gave her a serious talk about death and what comes with it. Perhaps it is for this reason that she does not aspire to follow her parents’ footsteps.
