Description
So here's my entry to the April's fools challenge, in which a prank had to be played on our favourite Howe
.I must say this has been a bit hard. Nathaniel is quite a serious character, and all the pranks I could imagine involved serious things. I felt cruel with all my ideas (and you know me, Yllwenn keeps cruelty for Zevran) and I almost let this pass until my beloved husband came to the rescue.
He suggested me playing a prank at the joining ceremony, exchanging the blood by water or something like that. So I though "Hey, Oghren liked the stuff, maybe he exchanged it!", and it was the first thing I drew... when Anders came to my mind.
Anders is the jest in Awakening, and oh my, how I miss him now I'm playing Dragon Age 2!!! So suddenly, when the strip was almost finished, that little voice told me "What if it was Anders who played the prank?" Oh, my that would be so HIM!
So I added him to the equation... and I think we all have won here!!! Hope you like the result!!!

Yeah, I miss the lighter Anders so much. Him doing that made sense with his backstory, even if he'd managed to avoid the hatreds and fears of most apostates through Awakenings.

In Awakenings he was a kind of survivor.. "I want to escape and be happy, if I can make a better world of it, ok, but it is not my main priority". Thus him joining to Justice and becoming such a fanatic makes not too much sense for me...

He was a lighter mirror image of Fenris before Justice nagged him about not fighting for the other mages in a side conversation. It would be stupid to join with someone who disapproves of you and Anders wasn't stupid then. Personality wise, Nathaniel would have fit Justice better, but he wasn't a mage.
I could maybe see him joining with Justice in guilt and anger after his friend was made tranquil and died... but not before. If I'd write a fic I might move joining Justice to after the deep roads expedition. Then awakening can be during the gap between act 1 and act 2, plenty of time for Amaranthine and a severe survivor/guilt trip and then Justice. The afterward for Justice said he continued hanging around Kristoff's widow for a good while which would have to be during act 1.
I don't mind a traumatic event changing him, but this was done poorly and he lost a lot of what made him such a fun character...

I still think they should have created a new character, not pervert one we already know and love in such an illogical way. But since for each disappointed fan it seems to have half a dozen Twilight-style stories lover people who says the new Anders is cool, we'll have to accept it that way. But I'm very sorry about that.
If DA3 doesn't include my warden, I think I'm going to leave the saga... I like this one, but I'm only playing it to see what happened to my warden and to have a saved game to import if it will matter in DA3. That's a poor motivation...

I think what the new fans miss is that he was cooler before: someone who'd been knocked around by fate and templars but hadn't let it destroy his compassion, goodwill, and good spirits. He honestly wants to help there, even if he'd been dragged there by Templars. That kind of person is a better hero than an emo who attacked the wrong target. Even devs can do OOC it seems.
I'm hoping there'll be an expansion or two before they jump to DA3. New numbers should be more for major game changes, like the new combat system. If DA3 is compatible mechanics wise with DA2, why give it a new generation number? It would be really cool if you could play your warden and champion in the same party.
Yeah, I loved the combat changes and some character/plot stuff, but this dragged far more than DAO. There wasn't even a mention of my warden by name and that should have been in the import, durn it.

I would love to see the champion and the warden together too though I wonder how could that be done... Maybe mixing episodes? In some of them the main character would be the Warden and in some, Hawke... who knows... Anyway my Warden would cut my Hawke's balls if she knew what she plans to do to Anders... And you're right, now he's so OOC!!! Anders in Awakening valued freedom, not only for mages, but for everybody, and I doubt he'd be able to harm innocent people as this one does...

I've not even played DA2 yet and Anders is definitely one of the better parts of DAA actually.
Incidently how's it going for you with ME 1&2? DAO is better than ME1, but from what I hear so far, Sequel-Wise Mass Effect comes out on top.
