Trust me, not a lot like the whole canon x OC ship, talk behind their back a lot, even been made fun of thinking all bronies wanna marry the mane characters. It's just to get you to have a better idea and have something original and not do the same thing everyone else is doing.

We can already guess what's gonna happen: both have same interest, both are kind, insert danger scene, too shy to ask, put kiss scene there, in the end they become more than friends and have comments say it was great, I lied.
I love to have fun, but I make sure it's in a way it'll catch everyone else's attention so they can experience the same fun, not a lot are going to see another Fluttershy x OC ship story, it's been done so many times. Plus we know nothing about the OC besides that he's been done in pony OC maker. Best way is art, gives the viewers a mental and visual image to understand who they are.
As for the whole in love with mane ponies, it just gives us the wrong idea of the character itself.
