Let's take a look at what's going on on Etheria with our favorite scientist.

Deep within her lab at the Fright Zone, Entrapta was being her usual enthusiastic-self with her pet projects until she got an unexpected visitor from space. A damaged robot that was floating throughout space before crashing down onto the planet. Despite it being badly damaged and burnt to a crisp from the fall, Entrapta's not complaining because hey she got a free robot to work on. Given her technical genius she can put it back together with its memory and personality intact. And if that doesn't work she could just take it apart and repurpose it, I mean it is an expendable robot after all.

In case anyone's wondering how Metal managed to make it to Etheria from Mobius (or Sonic's World if you want to call it that), he's probably one of the many models Eggman made to fight Sonic. Sonic and Eggman fought in space countless times, so it isn't hard to believe that he and Metal duked it out a couple of times and left him up there.

(Bit of a disclaimer this takes place around the time Entrapta joins the Horde, kind of diverting into a different path rather than follow the events of the show. Reminds me that I should do a list explaining what franchises have their stories changed or aren't affected at all with these stories, since I am making up some of these stories on the spot.)
