So if you think about, the super saiyan god transformation in "Battle of the Gods" is like a godly version of a false super saiyan transformation; think about it.
In the Lord Slug film the false Super Saiyan form is achieved when a saiyan has the body and power of a super saiyan, but lacks mental maturity to handle such power.
In the Battle of the Gods film goku was mentally mature, but his body could not handle the massive increase of power (that's the reason he lost the form after a while); think it like running a 64bit program on a 32bit operating system computer.

Whether its cannon or not (technically it's not), the false super saiyan form was made for the movie. It's the same thing in Dragon ball GT, it's considered non-cannon, and yet we officially establish the Super saiyan 4 transformation.

"False" SSJ is just a fan coined term. Goku DID go SSJ in Lord Slug but at the time, Toriyama had yet to actually reveal the real SSJ design during the manga so Toei just whipped something up.
