I cannot find the scan that states it, but his dance of destruction is supposed to bring destruction to the universe. Even so, his very movement was causing tears in the fabric of reality.

Superman's strength is nigh-infinity. His heat vision has been used to patch holes in reality. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't, considering he's also been equals with Orion, who's power of the Astro Force allowed him to contain a bomb that would have destroyed the universe.
