This is a well-deserved rivalry.
Let's go with feats here (size really does not always matter in a kaiju fight). Goji, in different incarnations, has destroyed the Gorath Asteroid (destroyed a city, Godzilla was fine), has tanked point-blank shots from the military (Kong's most famous sequence ends with his getting shot down by planes, and little since has stated he is immune to conventional weaponry), and defeated monsters such as Gigan, King Ghidorah (who in one variant eats planets Galactaus-style), and Keizer Ghidorah (they're considered different. Sure, this was with an energy boost). Kong's tallest size, coincidentally enough, was in the movie King Kong vs Godzilla, where he was 45 metres tall. That's still 5 metres shorter than Showa Godzilla, and almost a sixth of the size of Godzilla Earth. While size doesn't matter in kaiju fights (like Goji vs Destoroyah and Gamera vs Irys), it's still an interesting titbit. Let's assume that Kong was allowed his electricity ability he was given in the original movie. Godzilla in Godzilla vs Gigan I believe was also given this ability, making it null and void. Additionally, why don't we look at the character of Gorosaurus? He has faced both kaiju and lost to both if I remember. Even if he won against Showa Godzilla, all the other variants of Godzilla are significantly more powerful, and anywhere from small island to f*ck*ng planet level.
Kong is faster, I will give him that, and is generally smarter than Godzilla, meaning that this bout may well be closer than many think. However, Godzilla's better strength would give him the victory.

King Kong is taller than a 2-story house, Godzilla is 350 feet tall. King Kong does not have any long ranged attacks other than just throwing things, Godzilla does, hence his atomic breath. King Kong has been killed by only a couple of biplanes, Godzilla is too invincible for a whole army to subdue. Winner, Godzilla. My apologies to all the King Kong fans out there.

The only reason this is even a debate is because of the movie, and in that the only reason Kong did not die instantly is because Toho beefed him up to Godzilla's size and gave him added powers he never had (electricity making him stronger). Plus Kong "won" simply because, at the time, he was considered more popular.
Fact is in the cannon story machine gun fire from old-school planes was enough to kill Kong off. Meanwhile Godzilla has tanked explosives, planes, tanks, volcanic lava and even man-made black holes.
Godzilla stomps hard.

Unfortunately, although I am a fan of Kong, I have to give the victory to Godzilla. King Kong can not resist a puff of energy beam of Godzilla, plus a lizard is stronger than a gorilla for their hard scales. But in some versions, Godzilla has no beam energy and hence the Monkey King could still fight him.
(I know it, isn't the King, it's Donkey Kong, but that's the joke.)

Godzilla and I have proof.
King Kong would be instantly killed off by the SHEER radioactive fallout that Big G's signature Atomic breathe... mainly because it's made of PURE RADIATION.. and that sheer properties of that move alone would just give Kong a SUPREMELY lethal dose of radiation poisoning that he'd just drop on the spot.
ALSO the King of the Monster NATURALLY gives off radiation to the point that his mere PRESENCE turns an entire village into a unliveable radioactive wasteland... so just BEING near the King of the MOnsters would overwhelm Kong with just the sheer amount of Radiation poisoning...
Also since you king of FORGOT to scale up King Kong to be the same size of Godzilla... you made VIRTUALLY impossible for King Kong to make any form of impact on Godzilla before being squished.

Godzilla, of course. He's much bigger and he's survived everything from nuclear blasts to swimming through molten magma. Kong's a fantastic monster, but at the end of the day, he was downed by mere biplanes.
Kong did defeat Godzilla in "King Kong vs. Godzilla" but he was scaled up to be the same size as his opponent and was given a last minute superpower of sorts in order to level the playing field. He was also the lesser of the two evils so he was sort of obligated by the script to win.

Survived swimming in mollten lava! Survived a black hole! Ignores Absolute-Zero, and at full power his Atomic Breath can destroy multi-city blocks!!!!
