Aelia: in my younger years, I wandered into the silent woods, alone, still curious about the world around me. and It was there that I met Shriek. so afraid...and so alone, as much as I was because of the Decay that tormented Niwen. in that instant, Shriek became my first friend, long before Kuro. it was my very own secret. because of her deformity by the Decay, she was ignored, rejected and alone. that's why I became close to her. until that day, the Moki who raised me knew of my friendship with Shriek and chased her away despite my confusion and pleas.
and she ended up alone once more...

deformed wings, caused by corruption. in absence of light... everything has turned into stone, Shriek's heart included. she was rejected because of the decay on her body from the moment she was born, and also spread it further across Niwen. In fact, since no one knows where the Decay originated from, everyone looked to blame someone for the devastation that was brought upon Niwen, and Shriek was the one who has taken all the blame that was projected onto her. >
that's why none of the creatures in the forest ever tried to contact her, they chose to ignore her until she was too strong and too much in pain to even approach her. she was born all alone, and because of that, she kills everything in sight in order to survive. she even killed my remaining fellow spirits, and tried to kill me as well. in fact, she is sole reason why I fled Niwen in the first place and never returned since until now.

now I've seen it in her eyes. she didn't even realize what was happening. She is afraid of the light and attacked first, because it is the only kind of interaction she knows. Then Seir hurt her, confirming her first impression that she needs to be afraid of it. She expected a second attack from Seir but it never came, so she uses the moment to distract her enemy and flee. She was in pain and in survival mode, so there was no chance of her noticing what you were trying to do. she did not even recognize me.

Seir: Aelia... there are beings that cannot be turned away from their own inner darkness with a simple act of kindness. they get so far gone that they will choose to remain in that darkness. It's all they know after a certain point that turns them into the monsters of today. I know you want to save Shriek, but she is far beyond any salvation. she will stop at nothing to see Niwen completely destroyed.

Aelia: I know that, But... (pauses, ears drooping) ... I do not wish to bear any more regrets.

Seir: ...

Ori: Aelia...

Aelia: (inhales) lets keep going. we cannot keep the Spirit Willow waiting for much longer.

so yeah, have a pic of young Aelia and little Shriek. since Shriek parallels Ku, I headcanon that Aelia parallels Ori. especially in the aspect of her friendship with Shriek that didn't last for very long, and her adoptive Moki family died in the Decay and she had to fend for herself prior to meeting Kuro, growing up and fleeing Niwen to begin a new life in Nibel.
