In my Sonknux AU. Knuckles had to be absent on a date with Tails (who is the couple's best friend, who in addition to being a scientist and mechanic, has knowledge of medicine).

That being said, Knuckles couldn't make it to that appointment that they were going to see how their baby was doing and that they had decided to find out its gender. But, the obligations of being the guardian of the Master Emerald, he was required to have to go just in that week.

They lived on the South Island, but Knuckles had to make certain revisions to maintain the protection of the Master Emerald in a certain way. Rouge and Shadow supported him on occasion, but when they had to go on their missions with G.U.N. It was when they had to tell him that Esmeralda would be left alone.

Sonic understood that he had to go, but he began to have his mood swings sporadically, since he wanted his husband to accompany him to receive the news. (Yes, important fact, they are married ✨️💕). So yeah, here's the thing.

Sonic after giving Knuckles a fight when he returned from his trip, showed him a picture of the ultrasound, and said that his baby was more, nothing less. A BOY✨️💙
