Description I write words that string together into sentences; these make grammatical sense.  But to me, these are nothing.  There is no feeling in a few words strung together into a sentence.  Meaningful and heartfelt sentences are formulated in a hasty rush.  Scrawled onto paper napkins or onto well-worn notebooks poisoned with coffee mug stains and salty tears, enough wet to fill a thousand tea cups.

I am a writer who does not write.  Go figure.  I feel like time wasted is time spent without a pen in my hand.  I am a full-time experience technician.  But I am on annual leave.  I feel my heart getting smaller and the breaths shorter with each moment I do not write.

I escape the torment of writer's block by reading.  I walk into tiny bookshops, conspicuously hidden in back streets and side alleys, and I search for inspiration.  I search for something I recognise.  A feeling from an author to which I can relate and then I run from the bookshop to my desk where I write and I write, stealing just enough eagerness from these published authors as needed to scribble down those jagged words and well-spent phrases.

I'm sorry this has taken so long for me to figure how to respond. Once the right moment arrived and I was ready to digest it, I realized you had captured something basic to my own experience. The first paragraph especially. The tension of the wordsmith/chronicler, the one who writes the letters for the illiterate, versus the muse's slave who has no choice but write, driven by the knowledge that every story not yet told will be a weight he cannot shrug in any other way.

And yes, the bookshops, the company of other writers, dead or otherwise. Inspiration is where you find it, and the world is rich as plum pudding with poetry and stories.

Consider your ass kicked, in the politest and friendliest of ways, from a fellow writer and admirer of your talents. So go write something, already!
