I'm sorry this has taken so long for me to figure how to respond. Once the right moment arrived and I was ready to digest it, I realized you had captured something basic to my own experience. The first paragraph especially. The tension of the wordsmith/chronicler, the one who writes the letters for the illiterate, versus the muse's slave who has no choice but write, driven by the knowledge that every story not yet told will be a weight he cannot shrug in any other way.
And yes, the bookshops, the company of other writers, dead or otherwise. Inspiration is where you find it, and the world is rich as plum pudding with poetry and stories.
Consider your ass kicked, in the politest and friendliest of ways, from a fellow writer and admirer of your talents. So go write something, already!
