Description 3 screenshots not-so-well stitched together.

been playing with building meshes from voxel data and it bacame something a little minecrafty. though I'm thinking it will go more '3D-liero-ey' if I take it further.

anyhoo, play with it here if you like: [link]

and if you have a fancy graphics card, with fancy lighting: [link] (z/x keys rotate light)

if you like this, make sure to check out minecraft , the root of inspiration for it

to clarify, this is NOT made in minecraft! please don't list it as such, thanks

That is an absolutely amazing program. I could spend hours on it. I love running around the filled map with bombs~

Haha cool You should add environmental map/box or how it is called, skies and sun + sun used as a light source

SophieHoulden In reply to wonderwhy-ER [2010-08-14 10:14:10 +0000 UTC]

a skybox, maybe if I could get the fog to fade alpha and not colour, otherwise theres no real way for me to do it without huge seams. and I think using a skybox point as the sun is a 3.0 feature, so even if I did make that I wouldnt be able to publish it till it's out of beta ^_^;

Ouh, well I don't know much about unity still so just guessed it would have been cool to do it if possible

ah, very true, though it would be more correct to say 'inspired by someone inspired by minecraft' lol

LOL is really fun to dig a big hole and then try to reach the top again.

lol i looked at your screenshot then when i started playing i was like WHATTTT?! I CAN'T DO THIS BY THROWING BOXES!

then i realized that you can just fill it and bomb the crap out of it.

this was fun

SophieHoulden In reply to sketchnate [2010-08-14 10:10:39 +0000 UTC]

haha, I'm working on making the bombing even more fun today, making the mesh updates faster and adding Chiquita/banana bombs

i can't wait to try that out! oooooooh i'm going to blow that place to hell.

this game is fun for creating like tunnels, cause what i do is fill the space, then bomb it straight to the bottom, then walk around and bomb it up to the surface. it looks pretty awesome

Why when i see this, i imagine it underwater?

SophieHoulden In reply to erickthesonicfan [2010-08-14 10:01:59 +0000 UTC]

um, I gues cuz its kind of wavey, desaturated looking and things fade off in the distance?

AIBoobPicsForSale [2010-08-13 14:48:02 +0000 UTC]

Very interesting, and seems to be very efficient as well - only 4% CPU in a well-mangled canyon with plenty of visible surfaces.

SophieHoulden In reply to AIBoobPicsForSale [2010-08-13 16:41:52 +0000 UTC]

yeah, most of the weight is on the Graphics card, the CPU only handles the mesh building, which only happens from time to time and I got a few things going to keep it mostly to a minimum too

Pretty cool. I didn't like, though, that the mouse left the window. when I reached the end of the screen, I couldn't turn anymore. I would have loved to be able to see 360 degrees. haha. It'd be cool to either have the mouse in the window to turn, or use the arrow keys to rotate the camera

SophieHoulden In reply to Kad-the-Chameleon [2010-08-13 14:20:54 +0000 UTC]

thats odd, the camera should rotate no matter where the mouse is, what browser/OS are you running?

Kad-the-Chameleon In reply to SophieHoulden [2010-08-13 14:27:58 +0000 UTC]

ahh, nevermind. It's working. I do still wish the mouse was limited to the window, though. haha. It's pretty neat. I'm curious to see what you do with it, especially to differentiate it from minecraft. ^_^
