February 17
Libya's "Day of Rage" protest is held, kicking off what will eventually become a successful full-scale rebellion against Muammar Gaddafi.

Parts ii and viii hit the hardest for me... Thank you for taking on such important subject matter with a conscious artistic eye. It's very sobering.

I think you captured a snap shot of the emotion in a civil war, or a peoples coup... I live in the US but I watch the news and marvel at the spririt and the heartache of the Lybian people. I wouldn't change any of the language but maybe the way you break your lines. It doesn't pause naturally where I would expect in places. If you read it out loud it gets a little muddy. Free verse is more difficult because there is no real form, but natural speech patterns provide the best foil... Keep it up, this is really good.

You are most welcome, I haven't gotten brave enough to put my poetry up on DA, it's a little too personal, I do admire people who do. You have a lot going for you in your poetry I enjoyed your other works as well.

Brilliant. And yes, I thought it was rather ridiculous how many different ways I've seen Gaddafi's name spelled.

It is so beautiful. I wish I could have you write of how beautiful it is, because only you seem to write the right words right now.

Brilliant. This made me feel desperately ignorant, but the stark reality of this piece reminds me that not all art is a way to lie to oneself. I really, really enjoyed reading this and am so glad this got a DD, because I doubt I would have seen it otherwise.

I recommend yehuda amichai if you want to read more upfront poems (if, of course, you haven't read him already); he fought in several wars and it shows in his writing. and thank you. (:
