This is pretty cool; it shows how Danny belongs in two different worlds and has two different identities as a part of him. It would've been interesting if the show focused more on Danny's struggle with his identity; teenagers have a hard enough time trying to figure out their identity and where they belong and it would be even harder for Danny being half-ghost and half-human. He doesn't just have powers; he has two different forms and is probably half-dead.

Well, it was originally designed to be action/adventure, comedy for children. As much as I enjoyed the light-hearted comedy I think the series had a lot of deep, dark content that wasn't really designed to be a children's cartoon and had a lot of potential to be a show designed to be relatable to teen. Even if it was written for an older audience and focused more on darker content I think the humor would've still been important because it's about a wise-cracking teenage boy and his friends who don't take things seriously, it's just in their personalities. Some of the characters could've dialed down on the humor a bit because kept the audience from taking the character seriously, like Jack who just comes off as an idiot rather than a well-balanced character (though that could be because teenagers often see their parents as idiot who don't understand them though Maddie didn't come off nearly as much of an idiot, just oblivious.)
