A Legend of Korra crossover since LoK is... set in the... Roaring 20s, right? Alek = Clanker = tech/machines = Equalist; Deryn = ummm... not. = bender!Andddd the two of them would be super out of place in the Avatar world, but oh well!

Hm, I don't think so. If the Equalists can have women in their ranks, and there are high ranking females in the Order of the White Lotus as well as the Republic City council, I don't see why there wouldn't be any female OWL guards.

I guess, but one an always have an au in which the avatar world was as sexist as the time period it was in. Besides, you never really see female soldiers/sailors/whatever in avatar, unless I'm completely forgetting something. But you have a good point.

hmmmm.. that might be true. Idk. It might work better in the AtLA timeframe rather than the LoK timeframe. I do recall Katara having issues with this, but I think a lot of it got better by the end of the series.
Although, if you look at a real world analogy - there's not a rule against women working in the military anymore, but I would say that there are still quite a few more men than women in the military overall.
