Well, I'm super late to the gemsona party, because of course I am. I'm however happy to present my gemsona : Aventurine.

Although she's supposed to be my gemsona, she has a lot of traits that don't come from me, but that I added in to make her interesting as a character. I don't have a huge poofy cloud for hair and I certainly don't always look so debonair, especially in the mornings.

I tried doing this lineless like my last Steven Universe fanart, but discovered in the process that it's very hard when you're working with white volumes on a white background, and that it doesn't lend itself well to complex objects like hands.

A bit of fluff text:

I picked Aventurine as a gem because its gemology links it to luck and opportunity, and I have a reputation of being lucky as hell. Plus, green is my favourite color.

She doesn't have two gems, meaning she's not a fusion - it's actually a cylinder with rounded ends. I chose this design/gem placement for two reasons: first, I'm a fairly cerebral person, and I spend a lot of time in my head ("in between my two ears"), which is also where a lot of my problems originate from. Second, the gemstone aventurine is said to soothe communication between people, and in my experience, listening is the hardest, and also most important part of communication (hence the "ear gems" thing).

Aventurine is a zen, kind and independant individual who seeks harmony and peace - that's my hippie side (you can see that in her outfit too). The downside of that is that she often has the compulsion to run away from danger or shy away from scary, intense or difficult situations. Like me, Aventurine is a big fan of choosing to pretend things are fine because it's easier than facing the music.

More details: The gems in Steven Universe have associated dance styles and instruments. I think Aventurine's would be something like 5 rythms dance or some other new agey dance style, and flute. Her weapon, which is not pictured here because I'm a lazy pony, is a quarterstaff, because that was always my weapon of choice when LARPing (it's great at both attacking and defending when you're a huge noob like me).

Story wise, Aventurine was part of the Crystal Gem faction during the war on Earth, and defected out of love for the planet. Odds are that she would have been shattered or corrupted during the conflict, but since aventurine is a very lucky stone...who knows. Maybe she survived and still roams the planet alone today, smelling the roses and carping her diems.
