To draw how D is described in the novels is an impossible feat. He's just too beautiful. I relied solely on novel descriptions and a blend of what I remember him looking like from the movie/manga, but I tried not to use references just to see what'd happen C:
If you are into gothic, sci-fi, action, thriller, and slightly macabre/romance/tragedy elements, damn. This series has it all. Go and enjoy it.

You are not the only fan of this guy, I am too! This is the only vampire franchise that keeps me on the edge of my seat. And he is my all-time favorite hybrid! This is absolutely stunning. Drop-dead-gorgeous (pun intended).

Transforming words into images is quite difficult, and when it concerns the description of a character with such high standards such as the most beautiful hunter in the Frontier, then depicting an image from him is merely impossible (the artists in the novels who tried drawing him admitted as well, so no blames. ).
However, you have drawn him splendidly, and it is all because of the amount of passion and care you have put into him. It is all visible in D's silent expression. You must be proud of yourself, for what you did is impressive!

Yes' from what I've heard, the author is stingy with the details of D's lineage... I want to know more too! Though there seems to be a consensus that D's father is Count Dracula (?). And I'm a sucker for a good action plotline

no ;_; I haven't been able to find it. YOU CAN HOWEVER purchase it from akadot.com! the prices are very cheap atm, I just don't feel like buying more manga til I'm done all the light novels XD

Yeah, that's what I might have to do, if DMP doesn't release the translated version in January.... > <;; (It's been delayed four-going-on-five times now; February 2013, then May, then June, with the most recent setback being in 2014).
Next thing to find out is if the raws can even be found on sites that sell manga.

I happened to come across a bookstore in my area that had these Vampire Hunter D books for sale for $1 each. They didn't have vol 1-3, so i bought vol 4 to sample but i haven't even opened it yet since but this piece immediately reminded me of it without seeing the titles. Your sketch works are always just so beautiful *(*´∀｀*)☆

ohmygodddd AHHHH I WISH YOU HAD VOLUME 1-3 BECAUSE THEY'RE SUPER DUPER GOOD, volume 4 is probably... i'm not sure, but imo it was the weakest book so far (I'm on book 8). Volume 4 has a lot of philosophy and creepiness, but it can get kind of slow... Volume 5 was like whaaat (a lot like inception, about dreams) and volume 6 was even MORE whaaaat (about a living desert that traps people in its jaws). My favourites are 1-3 XD

wait if he's watching the bloodlust movie, then it's NOTHING like the book omg. The book was better AND worse at the same time. I don't know how to explain it. It was better b/c you get to know the characters even more, but it's worse in that it will take your emotions and throw them around and step on them and kill them ._.
