A Shrith taking a rest in the comfort of his own home. Instead of sleeping on human-like beds, most Shrith sleep on large pillows stuffed with “beans.” In the warm months, Shrith tend to sleep with no blanket, but in the winter months, they wear a thick blanket and cuddle up with each other to conserve heat. When sleeping, Shrith will retract their eyestalks into their head, which is meant to protect these delicate body parts from damage, and also provides a sense of security.

Days on Txemshi last for about 82 hours, resulting in 41-hour days and nights. Instead of sleeping through the long night, Shrith sleep for about six hours, with two rests in the day and two at night. When a Shrith feels sleepy, they will leave their work and will rest for a few hours before waking up and returning back to work. Some places even have special sleeping rooms where Shrith can go to rest, though such installations cost a lot, and so many buildings don’t have such accommodations.

Shrith often sleep in their regular “working” clothes as opposed to undressing or dressing into pajama-like clothes. On especially hot days, they will sometimes take their clothes off, but many simply don’t.
