I just noticed that this is in PNG format... Any particular reason for that? I don't know too much about file formats other than jpeg and gif.

will do. As for the png it's a lossless compression, so where jpg gets some distortion pngs get none. As for why I'm doing it on this size of a page I have no idea, its pretty unnoticeable, if at all, but I figured why not

Makes sense. Probably a good habit to get into. I save everything as jpeg, pretty much without thinking about it at all anymore.

i generally do the same, I don't think it matters too much unless you need transparencies, thats the main use i see pngs getting
