Sitting still he looks tired and flaccid - wonder when last he ate even if it was something rancid? I look but do not see his mother with him and I fear; she might also not choose to be near when something awful happens and his pleads disappear...Stumble It! [link]

Searching with in me, as the words keep going around in my head over and over again.. the problem normally remains the same, to catch the words as they fly by….
You have captured one of our saddest moments in light and brightness…
Framing him with peace and hope… he must be 8 or so?
And tomorrow he will be there again, and what will happen in years to come??
I know stories told by people that “beggars” can earn more then a 9-5 job?
Looking at he photo, wondering the time of day, it could be 10:00 or 15:00?
Past breakfast and lunch… but again the photo takes me to another place, with warm colours and the half twisted tale…. And that some stories can still have a happy ending and you have captured a sad tale but all is not always as it seems, as with life…
We all had our moments of feeling lost in a satiation, and uncontrollable fear, and uncertainty of what will happen in years to come, so this story is maybe a story that we all have within ourselves, at one point or another…
Searching for answers, happiness, acceptance and love
Who knows?
This story may still have a happy ending…

Die foto is pragtig, warm en vol hoop, jy het soos ek in onlangs vir jou genoem het, dit op jou menier bitter sweet gemaak, en ek het elke oomblik geniet, as ek darna kyk…
So vandag is Rugby dag…uggggg en ek sal nie se ek is een van die grootste Rugby of bloubull fans in SA nie… ek het baie beter dinge om te doen, maar ek weet dat al my beblaning niks werd is as die res van Nelpruit gaan stilstaan om Rugby te kyk nie…
So ek hoop jy geniet jou langer comment, en as jy will sal ek vir jou weer langer comments gee….

ok, well here is life as it happens, not posed or fake...begging is here as it is everywhere and will always be but apart from the obvious...and let's assume that some do indeed make more than a 9-5 job..is this really the best way? most pleasant? most dignified?....where does the money go to especially for this young one..parents and booze? housing? food?....hmmm who knows but yes, tomorrow he might be back there doing something he might not like or want, much like many not asking to be born and hope that your parents could care for you in your younger years because unlike animals...we a re very dependent and weak....
So many views about this and you know how divided our country is and....not only did I capture a black boy which is oh so stereotypical but also a white man that day begging - but that I see often, it is his age vs. this young boy that bothers me most because he knows what he is doing wrong or right....does this boy? if he is hit by a car...will his parents try help? will he understand if they don't because of their fear which should not be made his when the police arrive....oh my word so many things to think of....
But this is photography, easy just to drive past and pretend nothing was there...heck you will soon forget driving past but photo has this wonderful eerie ability to make a moment in time stick with you, makes you think and discuss where you otherwise would not have and that, is why I enjoy it more and more these days because I really think we sit and fight over meaningless things and....rugby on this day is one of it, can only imagine all the family fights and drunk drivers waking up tomorrow having no idea they just wiped someones existence of the planet the previous night but fun we shall have as it is almost for many in this country like a 'right' but does the boy have fun in equal turns sitting there because he is forced to either physically or mentally by parental dominance or would he much rather go play to execute his 'right' to fun as many did watching or attending rugby?
could go on forever but yes, some photos are just plain sad really, and I myself would have forgotten about the boy if I did not have to sit and look at him for a few hours editing...ironic isn't it?
