That's happening when you see something related with cartoon you didn't see xD No prob. You can recognize guys by their bandanas. Characters on the left can be hard, so: first is Casey Jones, next is April and Mel.
About the relationships, the simpliest: Donnie has a crush on April and he's jealous, when Casey, who likes April too, shows up. (second season).
