Description I guess I hit it on fanart these days again... Watching "The Colour Of Magic" movie inspired me to paint Rincewind the way *I* see him,in "full size",and in one of his few semi-happy states...running. This one didn't turn out too good though... if it weren't for the legs, I'd have thrown it out... Aw well...by the way, sorry about the horribly drawn cactus, I can't remember ever drawing one before.

Yeah, that is true, but I was young and foolish back when I drew this

Hey, he seems happy! ("I run, therefore I am... alive"? ^^)

I really like the move and the colours!

Indeed, this was the idea I understood this feeling over the years. Thank you so much!Β

Or, more correctly, I run, and therefore, with any luck, I'll still be.

Precisely... although he kind of succeeds without a shred of luck as it is

Love his expression!

"The Last Continent" is one of my favorite Discworld books too. Glad you liked it

I did check out your other Rincewind fanart, by the way. It's lovely. I really wish he'd find a girlfriend in the original series too...

This is a really weird thing to comment on, but you did a quite nice job on his feet. I only just noticed this after several viewings, but feet are often tough and you did great with them. Same for the hands.
Also, I love his expression. It's awesome.

Soulstripper In reply to thebookhobbit [2009-09-28 14:06:36 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. I don't find it weird that you commented on that, just flattering. Personally, I'm only happy with how the right foot turned out, and maybe both the hands and feet seem too big because he had to be extremely skinny. Still, I'm really glad you liked them, and the picture in general. As for the expression, well, I really wanted to draw Rincewind content, even if he'd be content in a maniacal adrenalin rush way. I'd guess the only thing to make him feel at least something close to happiness (apart from complete and utter lack of excitement in his life) would be succeeding in running away from his enemies. it kind of defines him, I guess.

Also, thanks for all the favorites you gave my art!

Maybe it's because he doesn't get to smile much, hmm. Anyway, I agree! And thank you for drawing it

this is a fantastic piece. i actually LIKE the terrible cactus... not to mention the fantastic Rincewind. i like him being young like this... he's always depicted a lot older than he's meant to be.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Soulstripper In reply to wrincewind [2008-08-19 08:20:23 +0000 UTC]

Wow,that poor misshapen cactus gets so much more affection than I expected Yay,I'm glad you like Rincewind young too. I think he was called "lad" or something several times in the books. And they don't call you "lad" if you're 63 or so,I suppose.

wrincewind In reply to Soulstripper [2008-08-25 18:15:10 +0000 UTC]

i think he's a few years older than Ponder Stibbons... don't hold me to that, though.

Yeah,I think so too. I think there was evidence in the books about his age,but naturally I forgot

Duuuuude! I want to see that movie! It has to be so adorable and funny. >u<

Soulstripper In reply to VergesseneTraenen [2008-05-26 15:33:37 +0000 UTC]

Wow,thanks! I'm glad you think so.It's the way I've always picture Rincewind, and whatever they might do,I'm not giving up that image. The movie isn't as good as the books, but it sticks closely to them. Too bad Rincewind is so old in that movie, you'd be disappointed.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VergesseneTraenen In reply to Soulstripper [2008-06-16 12:21:56 +0000 UTC]

I only saw some pictures out of the movie. I was rather surprised. He isn't that old! I always imagined him the way you drew him as well!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Soulstripper In reply to VergesseneTraenen [2008-08-18 13:06:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah,I can agree, and I can prove they're wrong, because,in "The Last Continent", all the other wizards call Rincewind "lad",or something like that. Actually, having in mind the timespan of his adventures,he SHOULD be old, but in the books he doesn't age that much. It might have to do with his way to avoid death all the time.

Aaaaaw, Rincewind!! and just how I always imagined him to be
thanks for sharing this! ^^ (a pity there wasn't the luggage running alongside him..heheh)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Soulstripper In reply to Lingering-Song [2008-05-26 17:02:53 +0000 UTC]

Then I guess that means many people imagine him right I pictured his hair slightly darker, longer and thicker and his eyes darker than Paul Kidby's idea. A bright-eyed Rincewind, being the character he is, seems totally unreal to me.

I'd have drawn the Luggage but I really can't draw too many non-living things (well, the Luggage lives, but you get the idea)

Wow, looks great! This colours, but not only the colours, the rest is really great too. Rincewind is such a great Character, I like him the most after Granny Weatherwax and Tiffany Aching..

*hugs back*. Yeah, Rincewinds and Granny...theyΒ΄re so great, you have a good taste

Oh you donΒ΄t read a Book which Tiffany is in, you have to do that, theyΒ΄re so great . I canΒ΄t say which books of the three are the best: The Wee Free Men, A Hat Full of Sky or Wintersmith...but if I think a little I would say Wintersmith, itΒ΄s the funniest one of the three I think...
