Description Based off the fashions the missus wore when we dated in high school. I think this qualifies as grunge... I'm bad at identifying different modern fashion aesthetics.

The missus had a green pair until they completely wore out. She hasn't been able to find replacements in the right colour

That certainly qualifies as grunge - it's something a lot broader and longer lived than many people think. Seeing the tee and the accessories, I'm guessing 2000 to 2005, but the rest fits squarely in 1997.

Not sure if it was the intention, but the bike lane sign in the background is a really nice touch when it comes to the theme of a style that is strongly associated with 1992-1994, Pearl Jam and Nirvana and all, but is actually spread thin over a decade or more. The sharp contrast and urban themes gives a nice touch of a really early 90's music video or tv intro, looming solid behind the more recent fashion. A bit of a time traveller on the time machine Endurance.

Wow, pretty spot on with those dates. This whole outfit was taken from a photo, so
any anachronisms are because fashions came to my childhood small town at a slow pace.
You are also right about the street sign, it was carefully chosen.

Ha, yes they did, but hey, at least money was saved on buying jeans by wearing them until they could no longer be classified as clothes. It was strange when manufacturers started selling pre- ripped jeans.

That's right -- I remember seeing them in stores.Β  Very often, it was those store-bought confections that were the most over-the-top!

The area I grew up in was generally less well off and the grunge aesthetic was a boon. My hand-me-downs were able to fit a fashion
