'T was a particularly hot day on planet Moss. The air was practically boiling above the sandy plains and strong winds didn't help much but blowing up dust constantly. If it wasn't for his goggles, Swift wouldn't be able to keep his eyes open and finish repairs on their trusty motorbike. No doubt this could take a while longer but it's better to be safe than stuck in the middle of the desert without any wheels.
Thunder - his friend dropped a large toolbox near his feet and wiped some sweat off his forehead. The day couldn't go any slower and yet it was painful counting seconds off of time spent in the midday heat. His head spun around, desperate to distract himself - scanning the horizon, he saw something; a dark grey blob in the distance dragging a long cloud of dust behind. It felt like he was hallucinating, struck by a heatwave of illusions and couldn't stop gazing, trying to figure out what he was seeing. When the dust cloud passed the line between a ruin and a stone hill, he began to worry; it was moving towards them and fast. When his ears registered a haunting roaring creeping up from the hills, fear struck him.

He stepped back and turned around to face his friend and pick him up by his shoulders. Bamboozled by his sudden fright, Swift shrugged him off, but the urging worry of his friend changed his demeanour.

Thunder closed the power conduit and mounted his bike, the engine started to heat up again and the sand underneath the wheels vibrated to the waves of energy. It wasn't safe to leave repairs half-finished, but a certain gut feeling demanded to take the risk. In his back, the sound built up to a deafening volume, much faster than he anticipated, and it arrived before they could escape.He only felt how Swift had grabbed his head and pulled it down, his eye catching the scene like in slow motion: he saw his face in the silver reflection of a thick blade. The chain shuddered with hundreds of small fangs and in the corner of his sight, he spotted a glimpse of the figure wielding the murderous tool.

In real time, the dark shade zipped past in a fraction of a second, leaving a trail of thick dust and remaining sparks of a red flame. And the sounds- the sounds were gone, it had deafened them or scared the hearing out of them. They only knew to get back up and take off in the opposite direction because in their backs, a creature twice their size was beginning to turn back and begin the chase for a second attempt.
