Description
This is Bubba, a male Society finch who had a hard life with a happy ending. I first met him dying of mites on the floor of his cage. With weeks of intense medication and incubation he recovered, but had lost so much weight that he was forced to live in solitary until he had regained enough weight and strength to return to living among other birds. However, he did not return to his own kind. After being banded with a hideous bright pink band he was released into a flight with a diverse mixture of birds. Early on he broke his middle toe, it healed but would protrude over the neighboring toe for the rest of his life. The relationship he had formed with an owl finch had ended, breaking his heart as she ran off with one of her own kind after claiming that "mother would kill me if i brought home a society man". And with that he grew lonely. Until one day his prayers were answered when his owners released a beautiful society finch female in the flight. Her name was Honey. They hit it off and quickly began planning their life together. And after living in the flight for a while longer, they moved to the suburbs and a cage of their own, where they lived out the rest of their days doing what society finches do: making more society finches (and in the case of Bubba and Honey, being ridiculously spoiled by their attending humans).
