Description Doing these for my own amusement.

You'll have to know the lore to understand the use of the divinity counter.

The life gain is... Soraka's Astral Blessing? Sure, let's go with that.

Not sure why she turns into removal... again, you need to be careful how you design hybrid cards, this is a mono green removal spell.

The white aspect allows the card to have spot in the fom of exiling a target. It was a reference to her sacrificing her divinity to curse Warwick, though I went with something that was less "black" due to the colors that I used to represent her.

Either way you look at it, it's still a minimum 7 mama to have the potential to exile a creature.

yeah, but you made it a green card, and green does not get removal in that form, fight is becoming a common recurring way for green to remove creatures but this card just doesn't work mechanically.

True, but that's like saying that Putrefy doesn't make sense since despite being part black, the green is still affiliated with spot removal.

The same thing with Unmake. Black iteself isn't associated with exiling a creature from the battlefield, but the white allows it to do so and that's a hybrid card as well.

But putrify IS black and green, putrify costs black mana and green mana, its a Chinese menu card where you pay for it upfront then pick 1 of the two colors abilities to use, and in that respect its a really simplistic yet nuanced design. The reason why unmake gets to do that is both colors have access to exile in some form and both colors have access to spot removal, also the cost of CCC means that it gets to bleed a little more ( by which i mean giving a black card exile) because the cost is a lot more restrictive, your either playing mono black and getting the functionality of a spot removal card, which you could probably be playing at a cheaper more efficient cost anyway since your mono black, or your playing a white black deck to make sure that you can cast the card consistently, at which point you are using white mana to cast it so its fine. The problem here is that your card reads 6G Exile target creature, which is not restrictive whatsoever.

I see your point. Hmmm... how about the activated ability exiles the creatue and gives the controller a 2/2 green wolf token?

Shouldn't she be indestructible as long as she has a divinity counter on her?

soy-monk In reply to hobo-attack [2013-02-24 20:08:22 +0000 UTC]

Not unless it specifically states so.

The Oracle text would have to state tr following: "CARDNAME is indestructae as long as it has a NAME counter (in this case, divinity) on it."

True, the only reason I mentioned it is because the Myojin all had indestructibility as long as they had a divinity counter on them and they were the only things to have divinity counters sans That Which Was Taken.

If the card text something along the lines of "CARDNAME is indestructible as long as it has a divinity counter on it.", then yes.

No worries.

Sometimes people misread or make assumptions for how a card work without paying close attention to the Oracle text.

A few people want to use these cards based off the LoL champions in EDH lol

I'd love to see cards like this made. It'd add some more diversity to the mutlicolored generals that one could use.

So, you pay 2 mana and you can exil any creature? In mono green if you want to? And you can also gain some life of it? Seems a bit overpowered to me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

soy-monk In reply to Overlord-J [2012-03-23 01:07:30 +0000 UTC]

Thus the divinity counter. I don't really see the life gain being all that good. No one ever maindecks life gain unless it's casual, EDH, or that one deck in Modern.

I want to keep her CMC at two though, so any suggestions would be great.

Overlord-J In reply to soy-monk [2012-03-23 01:25:47 +0000 UTC]

What do you mean "Thus the divinity counter."? The fact that she has a counter makes it just MORE powerful, because you can abuse it with profilerate. And no, I wouldn't maindeck a card that does nothing but life gain (unless it gives a ridicules amount of it) but her first ability KICKS ASS!

Yeah, I have no idea what I was thinking when I made her. This is the first draft after all lol

How about "Target opponent gains 5 life, remove a divinity counter from Soraka: Exile target creature that opponent controls"?
