You're very welcome! It's an amazing piece... I don't think I would have the patience to do something like that! (I can't throw on a wheel either xD)

Thanks again! I didn't think I would either haha
you should try to learn! I couldn't for the longest time, but I persisted and can do it now. It will make you feel very accomplished, I know was.

Would need to find a wheel, first! I work with a ceramicist and she doesn't have one... Is aaaaaall hand building with her.

Ahh, that's a shame. Hand-building is good to, more artistic in my opinion.

You know, I was telling her about this work yesterday. Turns out she DOES have a wheel, but it's been in pieces for a very long time and she's not good at it anyway. I might keep bugging her about it so I can have a go

How did you carved the bubbles? manually one by one?

soybeans In reply to jamnic [2011-11-06 20:19:44 +0000 UTC]

One by one, it took forever! But I'm really happy with the results. :]

I like it *_* I think, it may be possible to print some lace on the raw clay, to get some alike effect. >D I must try it!

I've done that! :] I should post pictures.... What I did was dip the lace in white under glaze and then wiped off the excess and stretched it over the pot. my teacher did this to a huge pot he threw and it was really beautiful, you should try it. Just remember to keep as much of the lace touching the clay as possible otherwise it will chip off after it's fired the first time. Clear-glazing it will help to keep it attached as well.

I'm not sure if I understood it properly... Was the pot fired once already or raw? The print was done with colour only, right? Also I don't use underglaze, would it work with engobe (slip)? Please, post your pictures

soybeans In reply to jamnic [2011-11-09 05:47:28 +0000 UTC]

Put the lace dipped in underglaze on when it is greenware, I think slip would work as long as it contrasts with the color of the clay.
