Kurd-Rah (Dar'Shad) es un Khajiita que nació el 3 de Tirdas de Mitad del año del 182 (3rd Midyear) en Senchal, Elsweyr. Su padre Dar'Jho, un temido y despiadado asesino Khajiita de Senchal, su madre Dra'Shiva una Khajiita, que a pesar de ser también una ladrona, vivía una segunda vida fuera del robo y la estafa, y su hermano mayor Kyrgcha, otro Khajiita que se convirtió en el hijo favorito de su padre y también odia a su hermano menor.

A pesar de la pobreza y el contrabando que abunda en Senchal, Dar'Shad nació en un pueblo ya olvidado y en ruinas que ahora se convirtió en el refugio de una banda de ladrones y asesinos de todas las razas que habitan en Tamriel (mayormente formado por Khajiitas).
Cuando Dar no era más que un cachorro fue sometido a pruebas muy difíciles para convertirse en un despiadado asesino y ladrón a igual que su hermano. Después de varios meses intentándolo, al fin consiguió superarlas, aunque su hermano terminó en menos tiempo y su padre empezó a apreciarlo por ello y empezó a importarle menos su otro hijo. Desde aquel entonces Dar'Shad empezó a competir contra su hermano para ganarse el favor y respeto de su padre, pero le fue imposible. Parecía como si no existiera para ellos.

Un día les encomendaron una misión: Saquear los cultivos de azúcar lunar y robar el dinero de los agricultores en el Bosque de Tenmar. La misión fue un existo, pero en aquel momento, Kyrgcha lo traiciona dejándolo mal herido y escapa con el botín mientras Dar es capturado. Cuando regresa a la guarida Dra'Shiva le esperaba en la entrada y le preguntó que dónde estaba su hermano. Él le respondió que los habían descubierto y Dar le dijo que corriera con el botín que él los distraería, pero al hacerlo le mataron. Kyrgcha no sabía mentir muy bien y su madre le amenazó si no le decía la verdad. Al descubrir la verdad, cogió el botín y marchó en busca de su cachorro con la intención de devolver lo que habían robado.

Al llegar allí, Dra'Shiva negoció con los agricultores para que liberasen a su pequeño y después de una larga conversación, estos accedieron. Desde aquel entonces, la vida de Dar'Shad cambiaría por completo, empezando primero por cambiarse el nombre.

Empezó a trabajar en los puestos de mercado con la mayor discreción posible para no ser reconocido por los demás pescadores. Un día conoció a un Nórdico que sabía leer el antiguo idioma de los Nórdico y le enseñó todo lo que sabía y con el paso de los años empezó a interesarse por las leyendas nórdicas antiguas. Si quería estar lejos de casa, Skyrim era su gran oportunidad, aunque soportar el frío que hacía allí le supondría un gran reto.

Cuando su padre se enteró de que su otro hijo estaba trabajando y su esposa le estaba ayudando con eso, no le gustó en absoluto y mandó a degollarlos por traición.

Dra'Shiva sabía que tarde o temprano su marido reaccionaría y por eso le dijo a Kurd que huyese de allí, por suerte Kurd ya sabía a dónde ir y él ya llevaba unos de kilómetros de ventaja. Cuando llegó a Skingrad, Cyrodiil se encontró con un grupo de caravanas Khajiitas que decían ser "arqueólogos" con la intención de ir a Skyrim para ir a investigarla y Kurd se unió a ellos sin dudarlo.

One day met a Nordic who knew read the ancient language of the Nordic and taught him everything he knew and over the years became interested in the ancient Norse legends.
