I recommend finding a glove that you can use to add the plating to. I used a motorcycle glove for mine. For the armor plating on the glove I used worbla, wonderflex should work just as well. Making templates for the armor plating with paper first will help you get the right shapes for the worbla. Mine was basically 3 pieces of worbla. I do have basic pepakura templates if you are interested in those.

As for his goggles, what I did was I bought some welding goggles from amazon for $10 or less and then I just painted them the appropriate color.
