Barn owls must be among my favorite animals. They're endangered here in Illinois, where we only have one wild breeding pair.

I decided to draw this after seeing the trailer for Legends of the Guardians: the Owls of Ga'Hoole. Guardians of Ga'Hoole has been one of my favorite book series since it came out back in what, fourth grade or so?
I'm really excited about the upcoming movie and doubly glad that it was animated by the folks who made Happy Feet. Two of my other favorite series, Redwall and Silverwing, were more or less slaughtered by the traditional-style, TV series-type animations; the Redwall TV show especially failed to capture the mood and action of the books, and the characters of the Silverwing TV show had... spikey hairstyles... and were far too stylized 0_o

Anywotsit, this is an owl.
It was paintdoodled little by little between homework questions over a few weeks.
Done in Photoshop Elements 6 with a Bamboo tablet.
