Description Detail images: [link]
Part One of my series of woodland critter paintings

This one is a mouse in a field in the fall. Wearing a cape. Capes are epic win!
Based (quite) loosely off of Redwall and its concepts.

I have never completed a painting in Corel before, and I must say, Photoshop is a lot easier XD
Corel is good if you know what you're doing (unlike me ) and have experience with digital art. Or you just don't like Photoshop XD

Painted in Corel Painter Essentials 3 with my Bamboo Tablet

The Woodland Critter Series:
-Winter
-Spring
-Summer
-Summer Solstice
-Winter Solstice
-Spring Equinox
-Autumnal Equinox

None of which are done, yet

Haha, thankses!
I actually did this in Corel, which has better brushes/textures, so the furry bits were a lot easier than in Photoshop (heheh...) XD

Redwall mice are normal sized i think

soyrwoo In reply to drunkambrose [2008-10-22 02:18:30 +0000 UTC]

Redwall mice are the size of... mice... I believe
At least, in the first book they were. Their entire world has changed throughout the series (whatever happened to the horses and beavers? XD)

No matter what size they are, this painting is only related to Redwall in that it's an anthropomorphic rodent with a cape, which could also be associated with the Mistmantle Chronicles and many other books/cartoons

Very cute! I though it was based on Redwall too!
However, I would add more highlights details, like fur and add contrasts. Anyway, good job.

Epic cape !!

Thanks!
It doesn't have much detail in terms of fur, does it? I'll remember that for the rest of those paintings in the series! Thanks for your critique!

Oh very nice
why does the mouse have a cape?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

soyrwoo In reply to Dan-Q [2008-10-20 02:26:57 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
Don't all mice deserve capes?
Well, actually, it's because I've made sketches for half of the series, and there's already a cloak, dress, and tunic, so a cape seemed to fit best
